Mindset: Rethinking Resolutions for a New Year’s Revolution

Can we talk about New Year’s resolutions? You know, the ones that get a bad rap because by February, almost half of us have already thrown in the towel. As a scientist, I get it – I’m all about data, and the success numbers for January resolutions are bleak. Even so, I want to keep evolving as a person, and to me, New Year’s is a special time because it’s all about potential. Sure, potential hasn’t always been my wingman in matters of the heart, but professionally, it fuels my grit engine to overcome obstacles. The spirit of letting go of the old and embracing the possible with renewed energy – I’m all about it.

Embracing Potential Amidst Challenges

I’m not dissing the idea of resolutions; it’s just the timing that’s a bit off. January, with its post-holiday slog, isn’t the ideal moment to kickstart a battery of inflated self-improvement objectives.

Mindset Mastery in Action

Fear not, because I found a workaround. I set my intentions for evolution in December, and by the time January hits, I’m not starting something new; I’m just carrying on with what I’ve already begun. This is mindset training in action.

December: A Launchpad for Transformation

Setting a December 1st deadline is a game-changer. Momentum is key – once you’re in motion, you’re more likely to stay in motion. Who needs the pressure of January 1st when you can build on your progress from December? It also gives me a few extra weeks to try my commitments on for size. If they don’t fit, I can change them, as long as I do it before January 1.

This, my friends, is my invitation – ditch the January resolutions altogether and embrace a transformative December. Let’s create our own revolution of intention in action, defying the data and turning the promise of the New Year into more than just a fleeting idea. Cheers to a December of intention and a New Year filled with transforming potential into genuine growth!
